A Lifetime of Service to Education

Marie Locklin is a recently retired educator with 39 years of experience in the Santa Rosa County School District. A lifelong resident who grew up in Milton and currently resides in Midway, Marie is running for the District 5 School Board seat to represent all citizens of the county. Her career is built on a multi-generational family legacy in local education—her parents were long-time district educators, and her family’s service includes classroom teachers, administrators, and a former Superintendent.

Professional Background

Her career began at an international school in Maracaibo, Venezuela, providing her with a unique global perspective on diverse student needs. Marie spent the majority of her career at Gulf Breeze Elementary School. She served multiple years on the Gulf Breeze Elementary School Advisory Board as a Teacher Representative and Chair, and she was also a Teacher Representative and Executive Board Member on the Gulf Breeze Elementary School PTA. Additionally, Marie contributed to several district-level committees, including Paperwork Reduction, Insurance, Technology, and COVID, and she was on the Teachers’ Negotiation Team.

Community Commitment

Since retiring, Marie has remained an active volunteer in the school district and a community leader, demonstrating her commitment to county involvement. She serves on the Board of Directors for DUO (Do Unto Others) and is a member of the Gulf Breeze Chamber of Commerce, the Jay Chamber of Commerce, and the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. Furthermore, Marie is involved with the Santa Rosa County Retired Educators Association (SRCREA) and the Florida Retired Educators Association (FREA), showcasing her dedication to educational advocacy.

As a Santa Rosa School Board candidate, Marie advocates for a conservative financial approach, ensuring taxpayer dollars are used efficiently to support the classroom. She prioritizes student safety, enhancing teacher retention, and fostering open, transparent communication between the school system and the public.

As a retired professional with no daily work commitments, Marie Locklin is uniquely positioned to be a full-time, accessible advocate for Santa Rosa County’s families and taxpayers, especially during this critical time of school board elections.
